Film - náš pomocník

The book is released to be complementary to a collection of 4 DVDs which contains short documentary movies from the 1950s. This monograph summarizes foregoing research of presented films. Following this research the publication tries to point out artistically progressive elements which are present in mentioned movies. This effort aims at questioning a widespread thesis that these films are schematic and one-sidedly calculated in order to form an ideal of socialist society. On the basis of her research, the author proves that these simplifications come out primarily from prejudices and insufficient study of available materials.
