Filmové Brno

This collective monograph is a part of research project of the same name. Its goal is to capture and understand what forms the film culture in Brno – the second largest city of Czechoslovakia as well as Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the city with close cultural links to Vienna and very specific situation regarding mixing Czech, German, and Jewish element – took. The publication deals primarily with social importance of cinematography as an instituion and it studies not only the history of cinemas in Brno but also concrete aspects of attendance and popularity of various film genres and stars of the film industry.
